Adams Abstract & Title Company was established in 1889 by W.W. Adams. It started on the Ozark Square where the local newspaper, The Spectator, is housed today. However, in 1915 the building burned and it was re-housed where it stands today. Because of the fire, Adams built a vault to protect the tract books and records we still use today. Our tract books contain all of the records for Charleston, Ozark, Branch, Altus and many forgotten towns such as Manitou Springs and Watalula. Since W.W. Adams' tenure, it has changed ownership to R.M. Adams, B.W. Johnson, Ralph Johnson, Ralph Johnson Jr., John Harwell, and now its present owner,
Andrea N. Carlile, a native to Ozark.
